I’ve had my fair share of adversity in life-nothing of epic proportions but enough to know the difference between a mountain and a mole hill. And I have always stood firm in the belief that “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and “it builds character.”
But when I met my husband and his wonderful family, joined their tree, and extended it by a branch with the birth of my daughter I felt blessed. I also held my breathe waiting for life to throw me a metaphorical baseball right through my glistening window with a view.
Today I got a phone call that brought the bucket of balls right to my front steps. It was a shock. One of my first thoughts being “I knew it couldn’t be this good forever.” But I took a deep breathe and reminded myself thay I’ll rally the troops, take one day at a time and hold the hope that this will end with just a small smudge left on the glass.
Your use of metaphors was a great way to communicate the emotions you experienced.

Your figurative language is beautiful! I loved “I’ve had my fair share of adversity in life-nothing of epic proportions but enough to know the difference between a mountain and a mole hill.” I pray for peace for you!

Oooh, you’ve left me wondering what that bucket of balls that was dropped is. Hmmmm….
Hope it lands up being a “small smudge on the glass,” rather than a gaping hole.
