Living up to the Challenge

This school year I’ve taken on the new role in a new district from that of a classroom teacher to a literacy coach.  I work in classrooms grades k-5 trying to build a culture based on a love for literacy among students and teachers alike.  I emphasize the importance of reading and writing daily, but I realized that in order to really show my dedication to this philosophy I need to practice what I preach.

So, as intimidating as it may be, I have decided to partake in The Slice of Life Story Challenge for March.  I will dedicate to writing daily for the contest and hopefully this can simultaneously get me into blogging!  I’m excited and nervous which I think is a good thing because it reminds me of how some of my students and teachers may feel about the writing and reading process within the workshop model that we are newly implementing in this district.  So hats off to my colleagues and little learners for all their hard work-wish me luck!
